Smoking

1-Why do people smoke when they know how bad it is for their health?
- People smoke because they think cigarettes help them calm down.They believe cigarettes help them to relax.
- They believe cigarettes help them to work better.
- They have a strong addition to nicotine.


2-What makes people take up smoking in the first place?

- They want to try smoking. They want to know how it feels and tastes.
- It may be just for fun.
- Many famous people can be seen smoking in the movies and newspapers. Especially young people want to be like them so they imitate their behaviour.


3-What do you think of tobacco companies making money out of the sale of cigarettes?

- It’s bad for tobaco companies to make money out of something that causes disease and death.They are selling something that makes you die.
- Cigarette companies support tobacco farmers by buying their crops. Farmers should grow alternative crops and cigarettes companies should produce alternative products.

4-What do you think about governments collecting revenue from cigarette production?

- Revenue helps governments to pay for many expenses in a modern economy like
pensions, health and jobs. The government would lose a lot of money if they didn’t collect this revenue from cigarette companies.

My Story

RANIA

My name is Rania.I’m Lebanese, I was born in Lebanon in a little country, its name is Edbel.

My first language is Arabic and French, I speak the Arabic language and a little bit of English, but I like to speak English very well.

I finished my studies in Lebanon, I learned computer programmating.
I didn’t have any work experience, because I finished my school and I got married in Lebanon.

My husband is Lebanese but he was born in Australia, that’s why I’m here, that’s my only reason for migrating to Australia.
I live here with my husband I have only his family here and all my family is In Lebanon.

I arrived in Sydney four months ago, I love it. I want to build a new live here with my husband; at first I was afraid because I couldn’t speak very well so I felt a little bit unhappy. I have to improve my English as fast as I can. Now I am studying English at AMES because I have to face a new life in Australia.

I didn’t have any job till now, and I’d like to find a good job. I believe that I will have a wonderful future in Australia.
